Adrian Brody also produced it. There were a few torture scenes in it and they do sometimes actually show body parts getting hacked off instead of panning to a reaction shot of someone. It was a little far fetched at times with the gore because the special effects could have been better, like when the girl gets her head bashed in with a hammer.
It was a pretty twisted story and I almost hated the ending but apparently they knew people would and they fixed it.
