Review of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) by Brian H — 17 Mar 2013
I watched this several years ago when it first came out and I have recently revisited it. What a disappointing film. Others may enjoy a action flick like G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, but I hated it. The visual effects were horrendous.
You would think a big budget movie such as this one would put a lot of money into its visual effects, especially since it is a special effects driven movie. But no. The dialogue was cringe worthy and the performances were very bad (with the exception of Joseph Gordon-Levitt).
I was really hoping a movie based on G.I. Joe would be very gritty but what we got was a ton of CGI action that destroyed the film. There should have been more fire fights and less CGI action. The people behind this film didn't even try to make the CGI material believable.
Usually when there is far fetched material in a movie I ignore it. But this movie probably has some of the most unbelievable material I have ever seen. Overall it was very disappointing and it should definitely be skipped if you are thinking about watching it.
