Review of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) by Paul R — 26 Jul 2013
This is one of the rarest of times where I have felt guilt for taking part in the enjoyment of such a nonsensical, harebrained concoctions a film. Not even with a straight face can I say you will enjoy this film, but with the cheeky direction by Stephen Sommers and the dumb, ridiculous action sequences that are more akin to a live-action video game than an action film, it never gets bogged down to where audience can't have fun with it.
It's stupid, dumb, repetitive and almost cheesy in the most incomprehensible way possible. It's Sommers doing what he knows best, and that's making a fun, bloated blockbuster in the most unapologetic manner.
