Review of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra (2009) by Joshua R — 28 May 2013
Why would anyone like this overblown piece of crap that, as far as I'm concerned, has almost nothing to do with GI Joe (or at least the one we know from the 80's). The opening scene is completely out of place, and the plot tried too hard to rationalize itself.
The cast is full of nobodies, and worse still, they actually cast Marlon Wayans in the movie. The special effects look flashy, but there's too much special effects and impossibly advanced technology.
The action scenes are really mediocre, mainly because there's too much flashy SFX for it too have any meaning. Also, when some of the characters fight with swords, there's no blood. That's not even realistic.
Overall, it has all the hallmarks a soulless Hollywood CGI flick, and the end result is too artificial to enjoy.
