Review of G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013) by João P — 13 Feb 2014
This decisively was not horrible. Though I walked into this with low expectations, I walked out with a gigantic smile. The Rock delivered a performance decent enough to carry the movie when he had to, but the true star of this film was that man in black, Snake Eyes.
Every time he was on screen something incredibly cool happened. Naturally considering he is freaking Snake Eyes. COBRA managed to seem competent (No small feat considering this is COBRA we're talking about here) and their plan appropriately menacing.
Was this a perfect film? No certainly not. The plot was worthy of nigh upon every children's show I've ever seen and the acting was mostly just okay. But I'm going to say this: if you have to see a movie based off of a toyline, you freakin go to this.
Because this is far far superior to Hasbro's other effort, Transformers. Yes, I liked G.I. Joe Retaliation. And I am not ashamed to admit it.
