This movie reminded me of Top Gun. Switch out the Air Force for the Navy, throw in some feminism in place of typical macho bullshit and you've pretty much got it. Unfortunately, this movie falls in between of "message movie" and wanting to have a bit of fun.
It doesn't really succeed at getting them both, but Demi Moore pulls it off, and her relationship with her instructor thankfully keeps things out of the predictable corner.
