Review of Ghostwatch (1992) by Rowan C — 13 May 2012
This fictional controversial paranormal investigation show about a haunted house investigation. Aired in 1992 on BBC One and appeared on television to seem 'live'. I can tell that Most Haunted Live took serious inspiration from this show with its format and contents.
With Sir Michael Parkinson as the presenter along with a team of ghost investigators and experts gives the show a very realistic feel. The acting is good at most parts but the child actors in the show were bad, but probably when viewers were watching it on television they wouldn't have thought about it because of the shows 'live' feel and presentation.
With interesting mythology and for its time a very original concept (nowadays people wouldn't believe it as much, because of shows such as Most Haunted and films like Paranormal Activity) makes "Ghostwatch" an entertaining horror show with a nicely paced set of scary scenes, and in some ways scarier or on par with horror films, such as The Blair Witch Project, The Exorcist and The Shining.
