You can't take a base plot that's as common and overused as "The Christmas Carol" and try to get big numbers at the box office by revamping it with a slightly different twist. If you've seen Bill Murray's "Scrooged" you've practically seen this entire film.
Matthew McConaughey fans will like this movie because they get to look at him. But that's as far as this one goes.
