Review of Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009) by Scott D — 10 Feb 2014
Surprisingly I thought it was better than I thought it was gonna be. Matthew McConaughey is a likeable actor and he gave a good performance here and I felt for his character a bit. I thought there were moments of drama that worked that were not badly acted and actually well performed.
Michael Douglas was funny in the film and I kinda liked his character. This movie still has its problems that keep it from being called a good film. The performances from the women in the supporting cast except from Jennifer Garner were poor and there were scenes they had together that had poorly written dialogue and that made for cheesy dumb moments.
This movie probably showcases Emma Stone's most annoying character I have ever seen her play and those scenes with her were a little hard to get through, but good thing there wasn't a lot of them with her.
The way the story was presented at times was predictable and cliche and it resorts with elements from other crappier romantic comedies. In the end, I didn't hate myself for watching this and there are far worse comedies out there than this.
