More important than it is good, but good it is too. Broomfield's characteristic docu-fictional film style, charts a Chinese single mother's journey to Britain to find money and get a better life for her child, against the wishes of her anxious mother.

The film catalogues how the banality of small evils in global trafficking business - where no-one, from the Chinese racketeer to the British supermarket consumer, is left without blood on their hands - leads to a monumental evil, the death of the Chinese cockle pickers at Morecombe bay.
