Review of Ghosthouse (1988) by Ad V — 18 Sep 2011
In Italy, Sam Raimi's Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 were released as La Casa (The House) and La Casa 2. La Casa 2 bears no relation to the Evil Dead films, but--like other European films--it was released under the title in order to cash in on the franchise's success.
What we get instead of an Evil Dead film is a rather blase haunted house film in which nothing very memorable ever happens. Of course, that is to expected from Umberto Lenzi, who (aside from a few films) is mostly a hack-artist who films rip-offs of more successful films.
Nothing to recommend here unless you are a true fan of Italian horror like your humble reviewer.
