Review of Ghostbusters (2016) by Maggotplays — 16 Jul 2016
It's not misogynistic to dislike a movie on its merits, or in this case, lack thereof. This film misses the mark on so many levels.
The jokes were bad, which is a huge disappointment considering the strength of the cast and a director whose previous work I've enjoyed pretty thoroughly. I can count the number of exceptions to this statement on one hand. The effects would have been better placed in a direct to disc Scooby Doo movie. It has none of the charm of the original, and doesn't even play by the rules that the franchise set, and were reiterated in the beginning of the film. It feels as if this is just yet another attempt at a cash grab by Sony.
Shame on Paul Feig for his whole "If you don't like it you're a woman hater" rants he went on when the trailers were released. No Paul, I didn't like it because you made a garbage film.
