Like Total Recall and Robocop, Sony tries to reboot another 80´s classic and fails again, if you have seen those movies, you have seen Ghostbusters, once again the problem with this reboot like his two counter parts is that it competes with a timeless classic a lighting in a bottle movie that is still remember and doesn’t bring anything new, like the two reboots mention before, all the personality, charm, and over the top humor that made those films memorable is gone in the name of Political Correctness and the almighty PG-13 Rating, the cast tries and fail constantly because of a scrip that fallows the doom steeps of the Spiderman reboot (Another Sony film), and is more focus on creating a franchise than telling a contain history, from time to time the movie shows some glimpses of potential, but then a cameo of the old cast appears to remind you that the 84 classic cannot be top by this reboot, Paul Feig tries and fails to make this movie a Jurassic World or a Force Awakens, but those movies appeal was that they please the fans and brought new characters to their establish universes ; But what can I expect from a man that claims that all Ghostbusters fans are misogynist man babies? His mistake, he confuse homage with cameos, the Bill Murray is specially painful to watch, you can almost see the gun of a Sony Executive pointing to his head, but lets talk about the elephant in the room, the gender politics behind this movie, because apparently, Aliens 1 and 2, Terminator 1 and 2, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Twilight, Sex and the City, The Divergent, Force Awakens, Frozen, the endless romantic comedies that are release during the year, the barrage of Disney movies with strong female leads and the strong female characters in super hero like Black Widow doesn’t exist, or so be told by the marketing department of Sony, for a movie that claims that women are better in everything, their treatment of male characters is poor to say the least, all of them are dumb, jerks, evil and in the case of Chris Hemsworth over sexualize; Excuse me but this is not the thing that feminist complain they do to female characters in movies? So why they are doing this in what is call “The most progressive blockbuster of the year”? And don’t get me started on the fact that the only lead female character that doesn’t have a diploma is black , I will let that pass in any other movie, but because Ghostbusters (2016) claims equality in every turn, I cannot do that, especially when I have seen what women in the director chair have done in movies like Zero Dark Thirty and Deep Impact in regards of character development, this movie fails on every level, as a Reboot, as a comedy, even as a political statement, for a movie that is all about catching ghost, this film has no soul.
