Review of Ghostbusters (2016) by Bertoflyingfox — 16 Jul 2016
It gave me a few chuckles (the mayor and his assistant were my favorite characters), but besides that it was all throw-away plotting. Felt like a continuation of R.I.P.D.
The leads all played their characters decently, but there was no worthwhile plotting to flesh those characters out. Every scene boils down to an SNL skit...but with Ghostbusters.
Neil Casey (the bad guy), Zach Woods, and Karan Soni needed more screen time. Not only does Casey look like a new-age Egon, but the other two had funny personalities as well.
Anyway, I feel this was a missed opportunity to tell a more inclusive Ghostbusters movie. Instead we got ghost-infused SNL skits and a long final act that's more occupied trying to sell toys and push an agenda, than finish the story strong.
