Review of Ghostbusters (1984) by Harry W — 08 Feb 2013
Ghostbusters is a very fun Sci-Fi horror comedy that is incredibly iconic of the 1980's and is good for a laugh.
I remember getting creeped out by Ghostbusters as a kid, but now the visual effects look so old that I just laughed at them. For their time, they would have been great. They really set in the colourful and fun mood of Ghostbusters.
There's a lot of laughs to be had at the unserious tone, the rich 80's screenplay and the likeable cast.
Bill Murray sticks out as the funniest with impeccable comic delivery and charm.
Dan Akroyd sides with him well and has Murray's backup anytime a laugh is required.
Harold Ramis and Rick Moranis give it their all and provide a few laughs as well, and Sigourney Weaver is difficult to perceive as a damsel in distress cause she's so badass and has a more minor film role, but she goes hilariously off key later on and it's a good role for her.
Ghostbusters was a new idea at the time of it's release and made ghosts hilarious. It's unforgettable due to it's awesome theme song, it's essentially. 80's feel and script, and the fact that it launched Bill Murray into being a superstar.
