- 'Ghostbusters' is a 1984 supernatural comedy starring Bill Murray (Lost in Translation, Zombieland), Dan Aykroyd (The Blues Brothers, Driving Miss Daisy), Sigourney Weaver (Alien, Avatar), Rick Moranis (Honey, I shrunk the Kids, The Flintstones), Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson (Congo, Leviathan). Pure nostalgia, as I (and so many others) grew up with these movies. Who doesn't love Slimer? With its famous theme song, outstanding paranormal events and laughable situations, this film is perfect to watch with the entire family. Anyone in for marshmallows?
After losing their jobs at the University, Peter Venkman (Murray), Raymond Stantz (Aykroyd) and Egon Spengler (Ramis) who are parapsychologists, start a business in ghost hunting. Advertising as 'The Ghostbusters' nobody seems to take them seriously. Until one day, Dana Barret (Weaver) comes in and tells them she saw a demonic entity in her refrigerator. Venkman, who feels attracted to Dana, joins her to investigate, but doesn't find a thing that proves her story.
After overpowering Slimer, a green gluttonous ghost in a exclusive hotel, the phone begins to ring and the Ghostbusters become a success. Capturing one entity after another, things are looking good for the three men. They even need to expand their team, hiring Winston Zeddemore (Hudson). But when Dana and her neighbor Louis Tully (Moranis) get possessed by an ancient evil, the four face their toughest challenge yet. Can the Ghostbusters save New York?
