Review of Ghost World (2001) by Jordan T — 30 May 2009
Thora Birch and Scarlett Johansson are both equally good as two High School graduates who move through life, almost like ghosts, criticizing everything that's going on. It's sometimes hard to sympathize with someone with an overload of teenage angst (Birch especially pulls a few numbers here), but Steve Buscemi is wonderful as an eccentric collector of pristine records and everything 30s and 40s (even his telephone is old fashioned).
While Birch is hard to sympathize with, the movie still presents and interesting look into what happens to most people right after they leave school.
