Review of Ghost World (2001) by Aidan H — 21 Nov 2010
This teenage dramady has tons of stuff indie kids love: organic soundtrack, cynical teens, 'quirky' characters (yawn) and zero discernible plot. Birch and Johansson make for mildly endearing bitches whose relationship status changes when they hit the real world (a strip mall and the inevitable comic shop) while Buscemi's stereotypical record dork is phoned in.
There are a few chuckles either side of the emo-lite agonising but GW is neither that funny or gripping and I would imagine its appeal would be limited mainly to its nerd/geek/hipster demographic. 1 star for the hilarious nunchucks dude.
