Review of Ghost World (2001) by Ryan E — 29 Mar 2009
A very quirky, unusual film, with the same type of lead character - played perfectly by Thora Birch and the alternative unsure played by Scarlett Johansson - the acting is not where this film goes wrong, there isn't much going for it, its a simple story that tells it well but it feel like a whole lot of nothing happens in the film, it moves along slower than a snail, and I'm not really sure what it was meant to be? Off-Beat comedy? Drama? Dramedy? I did not laugh once, I had a slight chuckle at about 2 scenes.
If offbeat quirkiness is what you're after this one should satisfy your cravings mildly, there are far better films that do it better though.
