Review of Ghost Ship (2002) by David B — 11 Nov 2013
A boat salvage crew led by Captain Murphy (Gabriel Byrne) is given a tip off about a large ship drifting out in the Bering Sea. Murphy and his crew head out to investigate and their luck seems to be in when they discover chests full of gold on board the ailing vessel.
However, the crew find soon themselves in danger when they begin seeing ghosts and other phenomena on board which do not suffer them gladly. Ghost Ship builds up okay in the early stages but it soon crumbles into mediocrity as the story unfolds.
Byrne never looks comfortable, and not just because of the ghost ship, while the ending completes the demolition job on a weak horror film lacking in suspense and scares.
