Review of Ghost Ship (2002) by Luke A — 21 Dec 2009
The story is great and original.
I like the directors choice to make model ships instead of computer generated ones which age badly.
However, the acting is terrible. I really don't like it. As soon as the actors are introduced it is stale. "We've waited for three months and I'm not losing her now!" still makes me uncomfortable with the acting today.
The effects were good. That wire still makes me feel uneasy after seeing it 5 times. Infact, the whole movie makes me feel uneasy. It's kind of like Alien. You're stuck on a ship with things that want to kill you, how will you get away?
However, I think an abandoned ship would have atleast some lifeboats lying around, even if they did rot away. It was an Ocean Liner, wasn't it? They could've atleast shown the baddies getting rid of the life boats.
It is a great film that stays in your mind long after it is over. It is a bit stupid, but it is better than any other movie about haunted ships.
