Review of Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011) by Adrian Z — 11 Jun 2014

Based on other reviews, I expected this movie to be terrible. I was very pleasantly surprised. The opening is chilling and spectacular. It sets the tone right away; this is a supernatural thriller. The plot is excellent. I don't want to spoil anything, so I'll keep the most dramatic elements to myself. There are some definite unexpected twists. The effects are meant to be surreal--dream-like. They are, and I love it. Despite the dark atmosphere, there is also some good humor. Overall, the theme is one of redemption, of things meant for evil being turned around and used for good. This is an excellent movie. The acting from all of the main characters is superb. I'm guessing that those who hated it don't like surrealistic, supernatural thrillers with redemptive themes. I'm buying this movie on DVD tomorrow.

Update: Bought it, watched it again on the big screen, liked it even better the second time.
