Seems like the writer watched the animated original from 1996 cut up and came up with a story that could be told using the same scenes - the same exact scenes! All the visuals - character design, world design, even the exact same scenes - are mere copies, the plot being the only original element.

And it, too, is disappointing, dumbed down and avoiding any bothersome concepts.
