Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Greg B — 14 Apr 2017
"Ghost in the shell" is a movie starring Scarlett Johansson based on the anime source material about a woman who is rescued from a terrorist attack and whose body is replaced with cybernetic parts since her condition was fatal.
Now, terrorists are after the Hanka Corporation, the entity that created Johansson, and she is left to unravel the truth about her existence. Though this film boasts impressive visual effects, it also suffers from a confusing plot and stock characters that don't really amount to much.
The film blurs the line between good and evil but leaves us wondering who is genuine and who is not. The execution is uneven from the source material. Anime adaptations to film are hard to make, and the premise should have been explained more clearly ---------------------------------------------------- C.
