Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by K2K — 04 Apr 2017
Nothing like the original material, but still a good film. Like Constantine, this film has characters with the same names, but who act and look completely differently and a completely different plot yet still manages to be a good film.
If you stripped all the "Ghost In The Shell" bits out of this film it would be much better. The film runs to about 1h 45 minutes and there are never any dull parts or filler. The plot is more like Robocop or the Raiden parts of Metal Gear than the original.
I started off sceptical as I loved the original, but by the end I was won over by the interesting world and new back story. If you can put aside your love of the original and see this as a completely different thing, you'll probably enjoy this.
