Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Danman — 12 Apr 2017
The movie looks fantastic and though the story may seem a little easier to follow then the original anime it sets itself up as a great origin story with obvious plans for more to come. Unfortunatley the films is overshadowed by the whitewash controversy which has obviously impacted its ratings and success.
At least it has been well recieved in Japan and places where the controversy has not been a factor. A shame that we will likely not see a sequal. The movie looks fantastic and Scarlett does a fantastic job of portraying a unique and strong version of the major that is both delicate and powerful with a very human quality that still remains true to the majors original detached behaviour.
