Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Rebecca31 — 30 Mar 2017
Scarlett Johansson is the first of her kind, cyber-enhanced to be the perfect soldier, built to fight against dangerous criminals. Enter Michael pouty Pitt in a hoodie. Johansson is without a doubt the best thing in this movie, great casting choice.
Pitt’s character was built up well and then seriously neglected . I never liked the original movie and I was rather enjoying this up until about the halfway mark then it seemed to descend into a predictable boring mess.
Disappointing to say the least. There’s nothing new about the story, it has numerous elements from other movies and you’ll see all the apparent plot twists well before they happen. And if you don’t well then you haven’t been paying attention.
Perhaps you’ve been distracted by the spectacular visual effects and why wouldn’t you be? The attention to detail was mesmerizing. No I didn’t see it in 3D but I didn’t have to, the effort that went into all the effects clearly speaks for itself.
Recommended for all you sci-fi fans.
