Ghost in the Shell had a ton of potential. Odd casting choices aside, the film is just kind of a let down. The plot really peters out by the halfway point of the movie. An interesting premise with good source material and good art direction is turned into an almost unwatchable mess.

Scarlett Johansson to her credit does give a solid performance, but the world around her and the situation she's in never seem to match tonally. It's not even all that revolutionary of a sci-fi film. I would say stick to the anime or manga.
