Review of Ghost in the Shell (2017) by Lavender D — 28 Jul 2017
This movie is for the Ghost in the Shel die hard fans only. It's a bit too melodramatic and slow at times, but a good edition to the story line, they totally open it up for another movie at the end.
Personally I feel like they didn't put enough true special effects, lots of CG, but little to make the actors believably enhanced. It did feels like CG masturbation all over the place with a bit of makeup and the true potential wasn't lived up to.
Really only a big time Ghost in the Shell fan can appreciate this movie as a prequel to the series and other movies. It was a good try, but those producing this movie still have a long way to go regarding tech for live action film to bring anime to life in a realistic way.
If they brought in Jim Henson studios or Laika studios it would've blown up the movie and probably could've scooted by on the flat dialogue.
