Review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) by James R — 27 Jul 2007
An absolute 10!
The Idealogical theories and questions posed within are profound. The originality in the approach of story, the incredibly intelligent and emotional dialogue, with the stunning visual content bring to this film an energy not found in many others. A personal favorite, Innocence is a near pefect experience. Unfortunately the film I've seen is not available in north america. An experimental and fledgling division of Dreamworks picked it up for distribution just prior to the merger announcement and as a result the production suffered, the translation is very inaccurate and in fact appears on screen in the form of large white captions that obscure the film. If you know where to look you can find an import that has an english subtitle track that is much better but still lacking.
A testament to the true genius of both Shirow, and Oshii.
