Review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) by Alsan A — 19 Dec 2007
More a spin-off than a sequel in scope, Ghost in the Shell 2 downplays the politics in the original in favor of an incredibly deep and introspective philosophical soliloquy by Mamoru Oshii. It's not a sci-fi action thriller (though it provides plenty to satisfy fans of such movies) but a contemplative metaphysical journey.
Add the stunning-beyond-words visuals and you have an incredible feast for both the mind and the eyes.
