Review of Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) by John Z — 12 Jan 2011
Endlessly depressing to a dull degree. The female character was one of the more interesting aspects of the original and replacing her with the male lead is a poor move. I also found the repetition of the final sequence to be tedious though it had a certain quality whereby it has a disorientating effect of what the reality is.
The constant quoting of authors and philosophers is also grinding, especially when the dialogue does not fit well into the scene. Still, there are interesting ideas and it is a true dystopian view.
