Review of Ghost in the Shell (1995) by Matthew C — 26 Aug 2008
I liked it, a bit, but not a lot. The plotting and dialogue were terrible and seem to add to each others awfulness. By which I mean the plot is hampered because it is almost entirely revealed through dialogue, and as a result the dialogue is full of forced exposition.
Which in most films would be enough to kill it entirely, but fortunately it is still interesting despite being terribly written and it is aesthetically and stylistically lovely at times, but even this is marred by a lot of redundant scenes where literally nothing at all is happening.
Even so there are just about more positives than negatives so it skips above neutral to three out of five.
