Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by Jo C — 20 Mar 2008
One of my favourite films of all time. Think Seven Samauri meets The Godfather meets ... stuff I can't put my finger on right now. But there is something so right about a black ghetto kid who decides he's the Samauri-style retainer to a small-change mobster, and whose best friend is an ice cream seller who doesn't even speak the same language, and whose legacy is a lonely, smart 10 year old girl.
Expect nothing, revel in everything, watch it late at night, more than once.
