Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by Mark C — 19 Aug 2008
Yet another great film from Jim Jarmusch. The first thing you notice is the odd casting- Forest Whitaker as a modern samurai, and then a bunch of old people as the "gangsters". It moves at a very deliberate pace, letting you connect with the characters, and see things that you would miss with a lesser director.
His music choice is very odd at first, but as you go along it feels perfect (the score was done by RZA of Wu-Tang fame).
