Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by It's Harry "That's Me!" — 27 Oct 2008
Awesome, unexpected movie. Of course Forest Whitaker is brilliant, the soundtrack by RZA is amazing, it is a very spiritual action movie done in an original format. Could have easily been a cheesy gangster flick if anyone else had made it.
Had a few moments of cheesy action toward the end, but it all works within the plot and doesn't ruin the power of the piece. Would much rather watch this movie than Kill Bill, tho you can see where Tarantino got a lot of his inspiration.
Definitely inspired me to watch more Jarmusch movies.
