Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by Michael G — 19 Sep 2009
The movie had a nice, unrushed pace, which I guess fell in line with the character of Ghost Dog. highly enjoyable, and yet, I don't really know why. the plot was silly, action was simplistic, and the mobsters seemed pretty inept, which made the action and plot resonate a little less.
but the music and whitaker carried the movie, just about in the same way bill murray and the music carried broken flowers, another jarmusch film. they're both really good, and I can't explain why, although I can hardly call these movies subtle.
I think this makes me like them even more. but again, I don't know why.
