Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by Phillip M — 21 Jun 2010
Hahaha I just watched a movie called GHOST DOG.
GHOST DOG.
Best title ever. Period. Firm foundation baby. Forrest Whittaker was throwin bricks all over the screen. Not the bad kinda bricks, no sir. I'm talkin bout the good kind of bricks that shatter windows and are used by minorities to build houses and apartment complexes. BOOM.
Okay, ummmmmmm time to dig into the meat and tators of this movie. Basically Jim Jarmusch is a legend...great indie director, and for as low budget as this movie was, it had its moments. Granted, the low budget got in its way every now and there...effects were a little cheap, but that's to be expected.
The narration and quotes from the Way of the Samurai book were pretty cool. They were a little stiff and redundant...but I liked the way the words appeared on screen. Like subtitles but not really subtitles. Just titles. Yeahhhhhhhh.
Peace out brother moon.
