Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by Adam K — 07 Jul 2012
Subtle and quiet, much like its titular character, Ghost Dog is a unique blending of two cultural perspectives, the gangster and the samurai. Although slow in its pacing, its unconventional dialogue style and mellow atmosphere are complemented by a catchy soundtrack from Wu-Tang Clan's RZA.
Jarmusch's directorial style is one that abandons flashy sequences and pushes more for a state of realism, giving it an intense, gritty feelings that is complemented by a subtle mood.
