Review of Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai (1999) by Ken S — 13 Jul 2014
Forest Whitaker is awesome in the role of a Mafia hitman who lives by the way of the Samurai. It's a great film that is both badass and beautiful, skillfully directed by indie master Jim Jarmusch, with a nice mix of hip-hop/urban culture and Eastern Philosophy.
It's exactly the kind of thing you'd expect the Wu-Tang Clan to make (in fact RZA did the music for this film), only a little more low key. The mafia characters are hilarious in a subtle kind of way.
Jarmusch is a cool filmmaker, and this is a solid genre effort.
