Review of Ghanchakkar (2013) by Venkatesh S — 08 Nov 2013
Just watched this movie on Netflix. I am happy to say that I watched a good (or almost great if not for a few hiccups) in a while. I was very surprised to read so many negative review but II thought the movie had an excellent story line, great script, almost a flawless execution, and the acting too was not bad.
May be a few glitches here and there - like the over stressed punjabi accent of Vidya, but that does not make the whole movie bad. I was surprised to hear that climax was bad - so what were they expecting - Imran gets back his memory in the end and they live happily ever after!? - crap.
If one cannot accept a novel storyline which is off the beaten track how does one expect the quality of our movies to improve? Frankly speaking I haven't watched a movie in recent times which kept the suspense going till the last minute (literally).
The director also successfully brings out the emotional aspects of the 4 main characters who start suspecting each other in the ensuing confusion. The twists that happen towards the climax scene on the local train are quite good and not very easy to guess.
On top of that one can hardly guess where the money was kept till the very last minute. Overall a very good suspense thriller with some situational comedy - a must watch if you are a fan of suspense thrillers.
