Review of Ghajini (2005) by Abhinandan S — 27 Dec 2008
Well well well ..... yet another year end with an unusually-hyped movie. Music was bogus though u can hummm the "Kaise Mujhe" track. After TZP, Aamir was expected to do some miracle but disappoints. Asin cud have been better given she has already been in the Tamil version. Guys please don't miss the scene where Kalpana accepts Sanjay's proposal. Even our bollywood queens can't deliver that spunk. My personal fav scene. Ziah Khan never fitted in the role. She is just not made to carry off this kinda role. Finally the villian, man was that a joke or what. South movies and Bollywood just don't mix. Do not adulterate. Period.
So while you still have the Polaroid camera, post it notes and a tattooed body from Memento, the nonlinear narrative and conspiracy theory is compromised for a prolonged romance track and exaggerated revenge drama. Sadly gimmicks like 8-pack abs or trimmed hairline canâ??t cover up loopholes of a flawed script. The major flaw of the film is how Sanjay remembers Ghajiniâ??s sidekicks and traces them from nowhere ..... I guess he carried a USB drive wid all the videos ;).
