Review of Ghajini (2005) by Ahmer M — 31 Jan 2009
Perhaps it was an anti-climax because I had heard so much about it, and had to wait so long to watch it, but Ghajini left me feeling let down a little bit. Aamir Khan was very good, as usual, and so was Asin, and there were some captivating action sequences.... but it could have been so much better.
For one, it was too long and could have been at least three quarters of an hour shorter, if not more. Add to that a plot that did not make sense at all in several places (why, oh why, did Ghajini and his men, who shot dead all possible enemies in cold blood overnight, and were armed to the teeth with automatic handguns while going about their night of murder and mayhem, had absolutely no weapons other than blunt instruments - not even a knife or machete in sight - when Aamir goes after him at the end?!) and the overall experience is disappointing.
Still, I'm glad I saw it. After all, it is an Aamir Khan film! He was always a better actor than Shahrukh and now he even has a better physique! What abs! What a professional!
