A timeless epic, portraying the blood and guts 3 day battle of Gettysburg. What happened by mere accident, turned out to be one of the bloodiest battles in American history. This film is a suitable tribute to the men who fought and died on both sides of the war during those 3 bloody days.

Starring Martin Sheen, Jeff Daniels, and Sam Elliot, we get to experience the battle from both the Northern and Southern point of view. Also starring thousands of reenactors who, on their own time, came out in droves to star as extras.

This film was shot on the Gettysburg battlefield itself, adding to the authenticity and overall experience of this picture. The film climaxes on the third day, with the famous Pickett's Charge. Which ultimately ended in a slaughter.

The film portrays this perfectly as it shows the valiant effort by the Southern troops who made the charge, and the stubborn defense of the Union soldiers who quelled it. With a stellar cast, beautiful visuals and beautiful soundtrack, this is, in my opinion, is one of the most underrated war films out there.

I recommend this picture to any civil war buffs, history buffs or any average film goer out there!
