Review of Getaway (2013) by Leiagh H — 26 Aug 2013
This movie was barely worth the price of the free screening I saw it at. I never saw anything about this movie on TV or online, which is never a good sign. It's your basic bad guy holding good guy's wife hostage so he does what the bad guy tells him to do.
The entire movie consists of about 5 minutes of dialog followed by 10 minutes of running away from the cops (repeated about 20 times). You see about half or more of the movie through the cameras the bad guy attached to the car to keep an eye on the good guy, and I wasn't sure if I was in a movie theater, or watching a bootleg.
I'm not 100% sure why, but my favorite scene was a single shot that lasted 2-3 minutes of the good guy chasing the bad guy towards the end. I think it was because it was refreshing to have a little simplicity after so much nausea-inducing quick scene changes.
I would only suggest this movie if you get the tickets for free, or if you want to punish yourself or a soon-to-be ex-loved one.
