Review of Get the Gringo (2012) by Jack B — 13 Oct 2012
Gibson's best role in years see him thundering back onsceen with grit, personality, a dark sense of humour and one hell of a crazy attitude. There are moments when the plot gets muddled and the end is very straight forward but the rest is an unexpected journey.
Violent, aggressive and at times very funny, the film's script and star are in harmony while the ideas flow like tequila. Yes you have seen the cross-generation double act but this is a neat flip on the strip back of prison movies and in its own way a throwback to the likable antagonist anchoring a film.
Good action but so much more too, sure to be a film that develops a following and gets underrated as hell, Gibson is back on form. Plus there is a Gibson impression thrown in, what more can you ask for?
