Review of Get the Gringo (2012) by Lilianetty L — 17 Oct 2012
"How I spent my Summer Vacation" or ...."Get the Gringo!" Whatever you wanna call it, Mel Gibson is still a freakin awesome actor. Although, he gets kinda crazy when he boozes it up (his personal life) the mofo can still put on quite a show.
"Get the Gringo" is about a thief (Gibson) who gets sentenced to some Mexican Prison time. He must get revenge on the guys who put him there & get back the loot they took from him. This film reminds a lot of one Gibson's other classics, the underrated "Payback".
In both flicks, Mel play a dark character with an edge. These are the kinda roles that fit perfectly for Mel's persona. Apart from Peter Stormare (great character actor), the cast is basically unknown but well played.
I like the story, simple & once again, Mel is good in these dark roles.....cinematography was kinda choppy but it was no biggie. Check out "Get the Gringo" on Net-flicks or rental.
