Review of Get the Gringo (2012) by Minh V — 24 Oct 2012
A standard action flick. Actually a better executed one in term of acting quality but then again I don't see anything that I haven't seen in an action flick. Most scenes are still predictable and we all know what will happen to the hero at the end of the day. I never expected a deep plot for these kinds of films but I rather focus on the action sequences so long as it has an semi decent story. With that being said, "Get the Gringo" does have an ok story but it falls short in action - 1 brief car chase in the begining, couple of shoot-outs, some punches are thrown here and there. I know what this movie lacking: a capable antagonist. We don't have a capable villain to stand shoulder to shoulder with our hero; only a bunch small timers with IQ of a prawn. All in all, it's pretty forgettable.
P/S: I thoroughly enjoyed the end credit song - La Cumbia Del Culero.
