Review of Get the Gringo (2012) by Michelle D — 23 Mar 2013
WHOOT Great to see Mel back in a...Revenge thriller style film. The story is almost like a mix of Gibsons film Payback and Driver. Gibsons character ,simply known as "The Gringo" is betrayed on the Mexican border and sent to prison and while there he learns how the Mexican gangs work and also how he can survive.
While there he befriends a little boy who's protected by the prison inmates cause he's there with his mother, and despite the kid stealing his cigarettes and etc. The Gringo get's to liking him and the kids mom,.
Once the Gringo is out of Prison he learns that the kid he saw in prison is being kept alive, by a man named Javi, the kid wants to kill so that they can use his liver. Upon learning this the gringo vows to stop the transplant and help the kid kill Javi.
After this the film goes out on a blood revenge flick and IT'S AWESOME. I will honestly admit this is one of the best Mel Gibson films I've seen in ALONG WHILE and it's the best character he's done since either Portor, from Payback who interestingly enough is who this character reminds me of, or Mad max who this character is almost a homage to. Mel Gibson fans should DEF. check this out and fans of this kind of film should also do so. You won't be disappointed.
