Review of Get Smart (2008) by Finis V — 12 Nov 2017

While "Get Smart" might be one of the silliest movies I've seen, I don't think its fair to call it dumb. It embraces its tone early on and keeps the laughs coming throughout. It works well as a parody of the spy movie genre while also having an enjoyable story with solid action scenes.

It's an irresistibly fun movie with a great cast and something for everyone. Steve Carrell is easily the stand out here but all of the other actors do a good job and have solid comedic timing. Nothing in the movie makes any logical sense, but that's kind of the point, and the movie is more than self-aware.

Aspects of the movie feel predictable but the movie still has a unique style that makes it worth seeing.
